Potteric Carr Nature Reserve
Nature
Walks
3rd Edition (August 2007)
(780 kb PDF)
There are four waymarked nature walks
on the Reserve, designated green, yellow, blue, and red, and identified
by
coloured-top
wooden posts.
They range from about 2½ km for the green route to around 8 km
if you take in all four -
the
choice is up to you
depending on the
time
you have at your disposal (NB. the red route is only partially
completed).
They take you to all parts
of the Reserve that
are
accessible to visitors and take in 12 viewing hides
and Field Centre with Café.
Please do not deviate from them
into the conservation areas, which
are preserved
for
the benefit of wildlife,
and please follow the country code.
The purpose of the Nature Walk Guide is to provide an insight into what to look out
for and what might be seen during
your
walk. What you
see depends very much
on the time of year, the time of day and the weather, but keep
your eyes
and ears open and, even if you
see little of what is mentioned in the Guide,
you may discover
something for
yourself.
Please note that access to the Reserve is by day pass/annual pass and, in particular,
you should not cross live railway
lines
if you are not
in
possession of a
valid pass. We hope you enjoy
the
walks and, maybe,
we shall
have a
chance to hear of your
discoveries.
