Opportunities for volunteers

After being run largely by volunteers since 1968, the Reserve converted to operation by full-time staff in 2005. However, there is still a need for volunteers to become involved in the operation of the Reserve. If you are interested please speak to a member of staff or volunteer during your visit, they wear photo ID badges.

HABITAT MANAGEMENT (practical conservation work and maintenance of facilities on the nature reserve).
WARDENING (patrolling the site out of normal opening hours).

ASSISTING VISITORS (guiding, interpretation, and help in the café).

SCIENTIFIC RECORDING (scientific recording of wildlife, surveys, and photographs).

FUND RAISING

With a reserve the size and diversity of Potteric Carr, there is voluntary work to do all year round.

There are a number of benefits offered to our volunteers, including permit concessions, training and social events.
